Anna Novikova-Tilčika (1983) is a contemporary dance artist and teacher from Latvia. "I perceive dance as a therapy, mental and physical. In searching for an impulse to move, I often confront my fears. My biography reflects in my works. I move to recover, to heal, to be strong, to be better. And to communicate the connection to the world and people. To get closer to the essence. I think everything has volume. Breath. Body. Thought. Action. Even stillness. Layers of substance that makes everything thicker and tangible. I think we chose the depth. Immeasurable expanse to go for, to sensate, to comprehend, to own. I look for it in dance, in conversation, in life." In 2019 Anna developed professional secondary education program in Contemporary Dance program at the PIKC NMV Riga Ballet School with her colleagues. At the moment, she dedicates herself mostly to teaching in field of contemporary dance , body wellbeing (foot instructor) and is a leader of a II course of the program. Since 2017 she collaborates with her colleague Rūta Pūce in project MANAMAMMADEJO (My mom is dancing) where they reflect on their profession and motherhood. Anna also relish her work as a performer. |
